ALL ARE WELCOME!
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE??
Worship starts at 9:30 am, but you are welcome to arrive earlier to enjoy pre-service music. You can enter through the main double doors facing the patio area, and you will be greeted by an usher, who will offer you a printed bulletin, help you find a seat, and answer any questions you may have. Please be sure to ask for a visitor's packet if it is your first time!
WHAT IS WORSHIP LIKE??
The order of worship is similar to what you may have experienced at other churches. Our pastor, George Prohaska, leads worship, assisted by a member of the congregation who serves as the liturgist. Music is an important component of our worship service; you will probably hear familiar hymns sung, led by our music director, as well as instrumental music provided by our church musician. On most Sundays, our choir offers an anthem, and on other Sundays, talented members of our congregation will provide music.
CAN I RECEIVE COMMUNION??
Communion in the Presbyterian Church (USA) is offered to all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We offer the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month, as well as at several other special services throughout the year. Those who participate are invited to the front of the church to obtain bread (gluten-free available) and juice, or prepackaged individual servings of communion elements are available for those who prefer this option.
WILL I BE EXPECTED TO DONATE??
Should you wish to give an offering, there are designated boxes in the sanitization stations in the narthex by each door. Offerings can also be easily given online at tithe.ly.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WORSHIP??
Following the postlude, a fellowship time is available to all in the Palmer Center (the smaller building on the east side of the campus), or outside (weather permitting). We invite you to join us for coffee, tea, light snacks, and conversation. Someone may invite you to participate, or just follow the crowd! There are also two different adult education classes offered after fellowship hour. A video-based class is held in the overflow area adjacent to the sanctuary, and a more traditional Bible study class is held in Room 7 at the end of the hall in the Palmer Center.
WHERE CAN MY KIDS GO??
All children are encouraged to attend the worship service with their families. A children’s message is included as part of each week’s service. A caregiver is available in the nursery (the first room on your left when you enter the Palmer Center) for children through five years of age. Sunday school is offered in the Palmer Center for children ages five and up following the children’s message.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR??
GPC has no specific dress code. You are welcome to dress up, or to wear more casual attire. We openly welcome all styles!
WILL I BE SINGLED OUT OR ASKED TO SIGN UP FOR SOMETHING??
Visitor contact forms are available for you to fill out, if you would like someone to follow up with you later in the week to answer questions or to tell you more about GPC. Visitors are welcome to participate in church activities, but there is no expectation that you will sign up.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED??
GPC has a variety of mission, learning, and social activities, which are listed in more detail in the worship bulletin and on the GPC website (www.azgpc.org). Visitors and members alike are encouraged to join in activities that appeal to them. Also, we offer a new member's class where you can learn about GPC with no obligation to join.
WHAT ELSE HAPPENS DURING THE WEEK??
Every Tuesday the men meet for breakfast. On the 4th Tuesday of the month we have a book discussion group that meets via Zoom. Every Thursday we have a mid-week bible study in person, as well as choir practice. On the 2nd Thursday of the month we have a food truck event in the parking lot. On the 3rd Saturday of the month our Presbyterian Women meet in person and via Zoom. Many different committees meet during the week each month. For a full listing be sure to check out our online calendar (www.azgpc.org/calendar).
We hope you have a great experience worshipping with us, and that you will decide to return!
