Reverend Phil Million, Pastor
Phillip was born in Kentucky, but as his father was an officer in the Army, he grew up at bases around the country and abroad. He went to college in Oklahoma and received his master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. His first career was in audiology, and he had several academic and clinical positions in medical settings around the country, including 25 years in New Mexico. At the end of his first career, he then attended the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, and was ordained as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in Sierra Blanca Presbytery. He has held pastoral positions in New Mexico and Texas prior to relocating in Arizona.
While Rev. Phil has had the good fortune to be able to grow up, live, and travel in various places in the United States and around the world, he always thinks of himself being most at home in the southwest. He considers himself something of a desert rat, and he loves to travel, hike, and camp in the deserts, canyons and mountains of Arizona and New Mexico. The adobes, rocks, cacti, tawny brown landscape, and beautiful sunsets are a part of the palette of his life as well as his watercolor paintings.
Phil is excited about being able to serve as pastor of the Gilbert Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Geralyn, are looking forward to meeting and getting to know the members of the congregation. While he recognizes the difficulties that all churches have experienced in the past year, he looks forward to being a part of the exciting years to come in the life and ministry of the Gilbert congregation.
